I have tried to upload a photograph of NGC 1023 that I have taken a few nights ago. Though it took me some time, seeing it on the page related was rewarding. But I must tell you that most of the work has to be done just by guessing. There is very little info on how to do it. I think that you will have to give some more details. The worst part is matching the photograph and the map. It is simply bewildering.

I think that some detail about the equipment, date and location must be included.

Anyway, the picture is there though I couldn't figure out how to enter some data on the "Source" tab. It simply stays empty and.... it's a pity!

Regards...

Akhnaton,

Thank you for your participation in our project and your feedback. We're actively working on our astrophoto part of the project.
Our first priority plans are to implement following features:

- add ability to set additional parameters for uploaded images such as author(s), date/time and location of the shot, equipment and filters, exposition times, processing details, additional tags for search, classification and filtering (i.e. "comet","planet","Mars","nebula",...);

- ability for astro photographers to set flag enable/disable full image preview in imageView interface or allow tiled version to be viewed only;

- enhance astrosurvey view by listing all currently visible images with details and ability to draw image on top of others. For now the function is implemented on http links level. Examples:
Show all images with higher resolution images on top:
http://www.sky-map.org/?ra=5.6&de=-2.8& ... ce=IMG_all
Put on top image 1122:
http://www.sky-map.org/?ra=5.6&de=-2.8& ... G_1122:all
Put on top image 9:
http://www.sky-map.org/?ra=5.6&de=-2.8& ... =IMG_9:all
Put on top images 640,15,1122:
http://www.sky-map.org/?ra=5.6&de=-2.8& ... 5:1122:all
Show single image 1122:
http://www.sky-map.org/?ra=5.6&de=-2.8& ... e=IMG_1122

- Build custom photo surveys by author or other filtering criteria;

- improve and simplify uploading procedure;

- add position auto match and auto adjust functionality;

and more.

Not sure what's wrong with the "source" field, it works when you set it initially, it might be a bug in the details edit code, I'll check it. For now if you provide the URL here, I'll set it for you.

Thank you

Thanks for the detailed answer. I think you are doing a great job. Bugs are unavoidable when you have to design a web site of this caliber. Even Windows XP is still chasing after bugs after so many years.

I am sure that your site will become an addiction for anyone who is interested in astronomy and am thrilled with antici.....pation!

As for the "source" bug, well, who cares? I know that my picture is on this terrific site and it is quite enough.

Best regards....
