Are there any alternatives to the Black Holes?

I just think - in case there are no black holes - are there any alternative theories that could explain the nature of what we think now is a black hole?
Thanks.

alternatives to black holes

Hello,
the idea of black hole is based on the concept of gravity. However, there are other models like the "string theory" trying to explain our universe, and probalby other universes, so we come to a "multiverse".
