Some good fellow(s) named "SeeSharpGadgets" created that garget for SKY-MAP.ORG:

As I understand gragets are work on Windows Vista only, so I cannot check it out yet.
If someone tried it, please leave comments here.

Thanks,

Hello, Admin!

Yes, that was me - thanks for noticing it on the Live Gallery!

I work for Microsoft, wanted to create my first gadget and I'm an amateur astronomy buff, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to build something that fits both!

I actually created a new version at http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail.aspx?li=ef651c34-2c04-4312-9a43-27aa38cd98ee which makes the search facility more streamlined if you're interested.

Sidebar gadgets are Vista-capable only as you've mentioned, unfortunately. But if you have Vista you can download it, use it and let me know what you think. If your the IT type, you can even look at the code - just rename the ".gadget" extension to ".zip" and unzip the contents. It's a collection of XML files, JavaScript files, HTML files and images.

I may make a version in Silverlight to make it more interactive if I can find time, but for now if you have suggestions, please send them my way!

Regards,

Paul Laberge (aka: SeeSharpGadgets)
