new DSS2 color version

Postby admin » Mon Jun 02, 2008 11:45 pm

We're about to release new version of DSS2 survey.
The processing just finished and new survey is already available on our testing server at http://server3.sky-map.org:8080
The major changes are:
- significantly improved color balancing algoritms;
- new de-edging algorithms implemented;
- better visibility of low-intensity objects, dark nebulae in particular;
- better handling of areas where blue survey data is missing (mostly around Galactic plane on South hemisphere);

Next steps would be:
- continue color balancing improvments;
- work on edges for some plates;
- implement automatic lines removal algorithms;
- implement mechanism for manual artifacts removal (like telescope reflections on plates with bright objects);
- add infrared survey;
- provide surveys for Red,Blue and IR bands individually;
